Building Permits & Inspections

Overview

The Building Permits & Inspections Division is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and welfare of the public by establishing and enforcing minimum standards for the design, construction, materials, location, and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the City of Lytle. Permits

Permits are required for building construction, as well as for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pool, and sign installations, among others. If you are unsure whether a permit is necessary, please contact the Building Department at 830-709-3692 option 3 for assistance. All plan reviews and construction activities must comply with the following adopted codes:

  • 2021 International Residential Code
  • 2021 International Mechanical Code
  • 2021 International Plumbing Code
  • 2021 Energy Conservation Code
  • 2021 Fuel Gas Code
  • 2023 National Electrical Code

Submitting Your Permit Applications

All Building Permits are now submitted electronically via our online system. REGISTRATION is REQUIRED for all contractors performing work. There is no fee for registration. When submitting an application, we need a full set of plans or drawings and for commercial we need project cost. City of Lytle requires that all trade contractors need to be a MASTER in their respective trade. This entails supplying the city with a copy of your master pocket card from the state of Texas, a copy of a valid driver's license, and certificate of insurance.
