Overview
The City of Lytle collects a one and one-half-percent (1.5%) sales tax on all taxable items purchased in the city.

The city adopted a one-percent (1%) sales tax back in 1968 when it became available in Texas cities.  The additional one-half-percent (.5%) sales tax was voted in back in 1988 for the purpose of reducing the property tax rate.

In 2008, this additional tax saved taxpayers $0.147894 / $100.00 valuation on their tax rate.

In 2009, this additional tax saved taxpayers $0.1442 / $100.00 valuation on their tax rate.

In 2010, this additional tax saved taxpayers $0.1537 / $100.00 valuation on their tax rate.

In 2011, this additional tax saved taxpayers $0.1659 / $100.00 valuation on their tax rate.

In 2012, this additional tax saved taxpayers $0.1793 / $100.00 valuation on their tax rate.

In 2013, this additional tas saved taxpayers $0.1874 / $100.00 valuation on their tax rate. 

This year, savings on the newly adopted 201 tax rate is $0.2010 / $100.00 valuation. 

Sales Tax represents about 27% of the general fund's revenues.
