The Victim Assistance Program was established by the State of Texas in 1979 to provide benefits for the victim(s) of a violent crime. The goal of the Lytle Police Department's Victim Assistance Program is to provide the necessary needs to victims of crime and to reduce the effects from short and long term trauma experienced as a result of victimization. Services provided by the Crime Victim Assistance Program:

  • On scene crisis intervention

  • Crisis Counseling

  • Notification of Victim Rights

  • Assistance in filing for Crime Victim's Compensation through the Attorney General of Texas

Justice support and procedures:

  • Assistance with the application process for Magistrate Order for Emergency Protection

  • Accompany victim to court

  • Information on the status of the investigation

Information and referral:

  • Information and referrals (Emergency shelters, grief counseling, crime scene cleanup, legal aid, and community resources)

  • Personal Advocacy/Support (Individual Safety Planning, assistance with property return, referrals to support agencies as necessary)

  • Serve as a liaison between victims and law enforcement and social service agencies

If you are a victim of a violent crime who has suffered personal injuries, or you are a surviving family member of a deceased victim of a violent crime, you may be eligible for crime victims compensation.
